PatchWerk's May 2010 Session Report


Who's Werking in Studio 9000?


T.I. is currently in the studio working on his seventh studio album titled 'King Uncaged'. Jim Jonsin, the producer who previously worked with him on his single, "Whatever You Like" and R&B singer Trey Songz, is scheduled to work on the project. T.I. released his first official single off 'King Uncaged' entitled, "Yeah Ya Know (Takers)" on May 24. The song is also set appear on the official soundtrack of his upcoming film, Takers. More recently, T. I. was at PatchWerk Studios having songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Muzzy Solis.

Newcomer, YelaWolf has signed a deal with Interscope Records after interest in the 30-year-old Alabama rapper surged at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Tex. YelaWolf will release his major label debut album on Interscope through his current independent label, Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment. YelaWolf says there's no timetable yet for his debut album, but he plans to release a new mixtape in June entitled "Trunk Muzik 0-60," the follow-up to his acclaimed January mixtape, "Trunk Muzik," which featured Bun B, Raekwon and Juelz Santana among others. Yelawolf was recently in PatchWerk studios having songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite assisted by PatchWerk engineer Muzzy Solis.

Musician, producer, singer and songwriter Sean Garrett, who has been responsible for a series of chart-topping compositions, was also in the studio this past May with producer Drumma Boy. All Sean Garrett's sessions were mixed by Leslie Brathwaite with PatchWerk engineer Muzzy Solis assisting.

Who's Werking in Studio 995?



Composed of brothers Theron a.k.a. Da Spokesman and Timothy a.k.a. Don't Talk Much, R. City offers international flair combined with a Hip-Hop aesthetic. In a short time they have penned songs for a staggering number of renowned artists including Mario, Usher, Eve, and Sean Kingston, to name a few. Some of the most successful songs they have written include Mario's "Music For Love", Sean Kingston's "Take You There", The Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up", and most recently Lyaz's "Replay". This past May R. City was in PatchWerk Studios as part of Def Jam's Writers Camp working alongside producer Jazze Pha and PatchWerk engineer Tripp Tiller.

Waka Flocka Flame, member of the 1017 Brick Squad, with Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Frenchie, and Wooh Da Kid is currently preparing his debut album and a mixtape with the Brick Squad. His new single is called "O Let's Do It". With a plan to infiltrate the industry, Waka has set a professional goal to release twenty street albums by 2011. Slated for upcoming release are Salute Me or Shoot Me, Volumes 2 and 3 and studio album Murda Man Flocka to be released sometime in 2010. In addition to performing regularly across the country, he is simultaneously in the studio recording music. Waka was having work done at PatchWerk Recording Studios this past May with PatchWerk engineer Kori Anders.

PatchWerk Studios seems to be Gucci Mane's studio of choice as he is there almost daily putting in work. This past May he was in Studio 995 having several songs recorded by PatchWerk Engineer Kori Anders. Gucci has a new official mixtape "Guccimania" out with some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape. Gucci Mane's latest album 'The State vs Radric Davis' on Warner Bros. Records is currently in stores.

Who's Werking in Studio 1019?

Alley Boy is the main artist off of Atlanta's newest record label, Duct Tape Entertainment, which is distributed by rap powerhouse, Asylum/Atlantic Records. Alley Boy hails from the Zone 6 section of Atlanta. Along with Big Bank Black, Alley Boy is making serious noise in the streets of Atlanta and on the mixtape circuit. Alley Boy spent several days in PatchWerk this past May working with PatchWerk engineer Kori Anders.

Since Gorilla Zoe has hit the music scene, he has seen much success in collaborations which have appeared under several Billboard charts. His first solo album, 'Welcome to the Zoo', was released October 2007, peaking at #18 on the Billboard 200, #8 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and #3 on Top Rap Albums. His second solo album, 'Don't Feed Da Animals', topped the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart. For the month of February 2010 Gorilla Zoe released a mixtape every day on the mixtape website DatPiff.com. Gorilla Zoe recently had a session at PatchWerk with PatchWerk engineer Charles Hammond.
