EMI Makes Moves
EMI Music North America has appointed Gary Beech as senior VP, urban marketing. No time to celebrate as he will start his new post immediately, reporting to Howard Handler, executive VP, marketing at EMI Music North America.
Some of the duties included will be overseeing product management for EMI's U.S. urban roster-including Avant, J.Holiday, LeToya, MIMS and Novel- Beech and his staff will also work with independent projects from EMI Label Services. The roster includes Fat Joe, Twista and Bobby Valentino. Beech joins EMI after holding a similar post at Sony Music Entertainment, overseeing the urban rosters for both Columbia and Epic Records. His background also includes the senior VP of urban marketing post at Epic and a senior marketing role at Mercury Records. He also spent five years (1992-97) as VP of marketing for the EMI Records Group.
