Practice really does.....Make progress.
We all should know that practice makes perfect, right? Well this also applies to you ARTIST! and you MUSICIAN! I mean picture it............> You already have a popular song on Myspace clocking in at more than a 100,000 plays for the year. You get on stage only to hear the roaring of thousands of current and potential fans. You start to perform your "hit" song knowing that you going to give the crowd DELIVERANCE. Everything goes well until you forgot 6 words from your own song.....Now how did this happen??? Well my friend, you didn't rehearse (or atleast not enough).
It is important that you practice, so you can perfect all avenues of your craft. I'm just ranting a little because I just don't want you all to face the mishapes that now you may prevent (mostly because you read this post). Well fret not here are four tips that may very well help you distinguish yourself as a performer from the rest.
1. Sound Check- If you can make sure you come early to the venue or event you plan to perform. Make sure that you are aware of the equipment and know how to use when necessary. You also want to meet with the soundguy and see if his preferences compliment your performance,if not see if he can make changes.
2.Practic,Practice,Practice- Can't stress this enough. Prior to the performance you most know how and what you will perform, also make sure everything and everyone is in tuned with set-up.
3. The set up- You must make sure all instruments are tuned ahead of time. Some bands may need to do a mini-set up right before their performances. Also make sure if you have any clothing malfuctions that you have some sort of back up because their will be no turning back!!!
4. Televise- If you can, have someone record your performance. You also may want to ask for feedback from Record execs and A&R's that may come to that particular event(Like I Do Music) as well as the patrons.

Man I can't stress how serious it is to arrive early prior to your performance. Nothing cool about making your fans wait when they have paid good money. That is how you lose straight up!
