August 2010 Session Report

Studio 9000 Session Report Singer-songwriter, actor, and voice actor Jesse McCartney has had several songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite assisted by Muzzy Solis at PatchWerk Studios this past August.Jesse McCartney's fourth album will be released sometime in October of 2010. The album title has not yet been released but McCartney has declared it will have a similar sound to his 2008 release, Departure, but will be more R&B and urban-influenced than his third album. Sean Garrett produced three songs for the project. McCartney also recorded a song titled "Up". "Up" (produced by Dapo Torimiro and written by Dapo Torimiro and Ester Dean) was recorded in support of the Step Up 3D soundtrack. It will also be included in McCartney's fourth album. It was confirmed that the album finished recording and production on August 13, 2010. He also confirmed that the first single is titled "Shake" and will hit radio stations after Labor Day. Hip Hop crooner, producer, and writer Deshon Bullock (a.k.a. Shonlock) canvasses a form of artistry which resonates into a discerning lesson in the art of translation... The former dancer and choreographer for Arrested Development and R&B princess Aaliyah is a multi-instrumentalist, serving up the type of production, lyricism, and performance stamina that leave fans yearning for more. In 2009, Lock signed a major label deal with Arrow/Universal Records and began work on his highly anticipated forthcoming yet titled CD, scheduled for 2010. While Lock continues to tour with Forefront/EMI artist Toby Mac, he released a duo of radio charted singles. Shonlock spent several days in PatchWerk studios this past August working with guest engineer Ricco Lumpkin and PatchWerk engineer Tripp Tiller, on songs for his upcoming release. On July 13, 2010 a song called "Tongues" surfaced, reportedly the lead single from R.Kelly's upcoming album Zodiac. The song, produced by Bangladesh and featuring Ludacris was mixed by Leslie Brathwaite at PatchWerk studios. In an interview in the September 2010 issue of XXL Magazine, Kelly mentioned that he's currently working on three new albums, entitled Zodiac, Love Letter and Epic, respectively. Studio 995 Session Report Georgias Most Wanted is back this SeptemBURR 28th with Gucci Mane's release of his new Album "The Appeal". This past August, in addition to having several songs recorded by PatchWerk Engineer Kori Anders, Gucci also held his listening party for "The Appeal" at PatchWerk. Some notables among the crowd included DJ Greg Street and label-mate Waka Flaka Flame, who also had a listening session for his upcoming release "Flockavelli". Gucci has a new official mixtape out, entitled "Mr. Zone 6" with some of his new 2010 singles featured on the project. Gucci Mane's latest album "The State vs Radric Davis" on Warner Brothers. Records is currently in stores and the new club banger "Gucci Time" featuring Swizz Beatz is for sale on iTunes. In a short time on the music scene, DTP Signees Block Xchange (B.X.C), have worked with artist's such as Twista, Shawnna, Ludacris and others. The duo has been featured on Disturbing The Peace's "Strength in Numbers" , Windy City", "In Love Wit The Music" , and "Head Noddin'". The duo has also been featured on Ludacris', "The Preview" Gangsta Grillz Mixtape w/ Dj Drama with a track entitled "Get up Get Out"... Their debut album "Young & Restless" was released in spring 2010 under DTP/Def Jam Recordings. This past August, B.X.C. had several songs mixed by guest engineer Ray Seay, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Dee Brown. Lil Scrappy's third studio album, "Prince of the South 2", is set to be released on October 5, 2010 through Real Talk Entertainment. Lil Scrappy's fourth studio album, "Tha Grustle", will be released in late 2010 or early 2011. This past August Scrappy had songs mixed by guest engineer Ray Seay, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Dee Brown. Other sessions in 995 included those for Tevin(M. Wilson), Aim (M. Studio 9000



Cash Money (Baby, Slim, Jay Sean, Bow Wow) stopped through PatchWerk Studios for a couple days this past October to work on new music and interview about their latest projects. Baby will release an album with long time friend Rick Ross titled The H. His first single from his upcoming album Pricele$ will be "Always Strapped", featuring Lil Wayne, and the second will be "Written on Her," featuring Jay Sean. Jay Sean’s album, confirmed to be All or Nothing will be released in third quarter of 2009. All Cash Money sessions were engineered by KY, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Dee Brown.

PatchWerk Studios is Gucci Mane’s studio of choice as he is there almost daily putting in work. This past October he was in the 9000 studio having several songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Brian Pedersen. Gucci has a new official mixtape "Guccimania" out with some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape. Gucci Mane is set to release his next album The State vs Radric Davis on Warner Bros. Records in December of 2009.

Madonna also had work done in PatchWerk’s studio 9000 this past October. Madonna had songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite, assisted by PatchWerk engineer Brian Pedersen. In September 2009 Madonna released Celebration, her third greatest hits album, and closing release with Warner Bros. Records. It contained the new songs "Celebration" and "Revolver", plus 34 hits spanning her career.

Juvenile has set a release to his latest album, which is the second album of his to be released on Atlantic Records, Cocky & Confident in 2009. Juvenile was at PatchWerk studios for a couple days tracking with PatchWerk engineer Dee Brown and photo shooting.

Recording artist and producer, B.o.B. AKA Bobby Ray Simmons , is currently signed under the labels of Grand Hustle and Atlantic Records. He has described his influences as "80's music, Rap, techno, rock, funk, even du wop…" His debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, is expected to be released in 2009 under T.I.'s record label Grand Hustle. B.o.B has been working hard at PatchWerk with the help of PatchWerk engineer Mike Wilson.

Gucci Mane was at PatchWerk for several days working with PatchWerk engineer Kori Anders. Gucci has a new official mixtape "Guccimania" out with some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape. On October 2, 2009, Gucci Mane was named #6 on MTV's annual ‘Hottest MC's In The Game’ list of 2009. Gucci Mane is set to release his next album The State vs Radric Davis on Warner Bros. Records in December of 2009.

Dow Jones and Henny AKA Tha Bizness are the production duo behind some of your favorite records like Lil Wayne’s “Every Girl”. They have been working hard in PatchWerk studios on several projects for 2009 including those with Bobby Valentino, Busta Rhymes, Verse, and Little Brother. All Tha Bizness sessions were engineered by PatchWerk engineer Dee Brown.

Alley Boy was also in PatchWerk for several says working with PatchWerk engineers Kori Anders and Mike “Snotty Miller”.

Gucci Mane was at PatchWerk for several days this past May working with PatchWerk engineer Kori Anders. Gucci has a new official mixtape "Guccimania" out with some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape and has recently inked a deal with Warner Bros. Records.

Rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer, Rico Love who has written songs for everyone from Usher, to Marques Houston, to Keri Hilson has also been in PatchWerk working with several artists, and on several tracks including those with Devin Johnson, Ron Browze and for Fat Joe. All Rico’s Session’s were engineered by PatchWerk engineers Mike Wilson or Kori Anders.

Singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer, Teddy Riley, along with Krave were in PatchWerk working on new session and was assisted by Kori Anders and Dee Brown.

In an interview with Plies and according to Slip-n-Slide Records, the rapper announced that he completed a fourth album. Tentatively, he planned to release it in April or May 2009, but stated that the exact date depended on the success of his third album. In May 2009, the album's title was confirmed to be Goon Affiliated, which is scheduled to be released in September 2009. Plies’ session was engineered by PatchWerk’s Mike “Snotty” Miller.

After his debut album, Self-Made, sold nearly 28,000 copies in its first week of release, Rocko Da Don, is back at work on his new hits.Rocko was at PatchWerk having songs tracked by Mike “Snotty” Miller assisted by Tripp Tiller.

Studio 9000



Cee-Lo is collaborating with producer Jazze Pha to release an album called Happy Hour on Jazze’s record label. Although previously shelved, the album is expected to be rescheduled for release after the success of St. Elsewhere by original label Columbia Records. Cee-Lo was in PatchWerk this past May working with producer Salaam Remi and Mix Engineer Leslie Brathwaite assisted by PatchWerk Engineer Michael Pratt.

Playaz Circle highly-anticipated debut album Supply & Demand was released on October 30, 2007, and featured the hit singles "Duffle Bag Boy" with Lil' Wayne, "Betta Knock" and "U Can Believe It" with Ludacris. Now back in the studio, working on their 2009 Release Flight 360, Playas Circle, is having songs mixed by Leslie Brathwaite assisted by M. Pratt at PatchWerk Studios.

Who’s in the Studio?

In Studio 995

July was a busy month for the engineers at PatchWerk Recording Studios.

Mike Wilson engineered over a dozen sessions for artists including Ludacris and Tiffany Evans. Wilson tracked vocals for Ludacris’ “Nasty Girl” ft. Plies and also worked with Tiffany Evans tracking and recording songs like “Can’t Ask for More”, “Hair”,“No Reason”, and “Yearbook”.

Kori Anders sessions included those for Lil Scooter, Gucci Mane, and Trey Songz. For Lil Scooter Anders tracked “Can’t hold me down” and “Favorite Girl” (produced by Lil Ronnie), while for Trey Songz he tracked songs including “If It’s Hood”, and “Take You Home”. Guest engineers Seth Firkins and Miles Walker were also in the studio working on tracks for Shawty Redd and Sean Garrett respectively.

Other sessions in 995 included Blood Raw, Allizee, Najah Jack, G Money, G Phonics, Young Haze, YI’s, Ike James, Young Pee Dee, Jessica, Ges, Smiley Face, Usher’s Camp New Look, and Sweet Rush.

In Studio 9000

Leslie Braithwaite engineered a majority of the sessions in 9000 this past July. For the most part, Braithwaite spent a large part of the month grinding all night at the boards for several weeks mixing Young Jeezy's upcoming release. Braithwaite assisted by Justin Trawick, mixed over a half dozen songs for the ’Snowman’ including “Crazy world” (produced by Midnight Black),” Hustla” (produced by Drumma Boy), and “Air Forces 08” (produced by Justice League)

Braithwaite, this time assisted by Mike Miller , also mixed sessions for Q Parker (formerly of 112), and Lionel Richie. Q Parker had mixes done for “Your Free” “Never Let Go” “You Know” and “Holding On” While Lionel Richie had mixes done for “Just Go” and “Nothing Left to Give” (both produced by Akon).

Mike Wilson was also hard at werk in Studio 9000, mixing ‘What Cha Know’ for Smiley Face of Yacht Music Group.

Other session in 9000 included Jessica, Shawty Redd, JR, KC Jockey, Ike James, Megan Rochelle, Jordan Taylor, Joe Gutta, Sweet Rush.

Who's in The Studio

In Studio 995

With bookings by DJ Toomp, Drumma Boy, Shawty Redd, The Clutch, and Sean Garrett, this past June was all about the producers and the writers. DJ Toomp was working on several tracks for Nas’ N.I.G.G.E.R album including “What U Say” and the title track “N.I.G.G.E.R”, while Producer Drumma Boy was working with a couple of artists including Gucci Mane and Alli. PatchWerk’s Kori Anders engineered the “Fast Lane” track, “Snap Shot”, and “I’m a Star” for Gucci Mane while he engineered the “In My Purse” and “Ya Heard Me” tracks for Allie. Producer Shawty Redd with guest engineer Seth Ferkins tracked “I Got it Like That” and “Swisher”. J. Que from the songwriter collective “The Clutch” was in the studio working on reference tracks for Mary J Blige, while last but certainly not least, singer, songwriter, and record producer Sean Garrett blocked off a couple nights to work on “Come On In” with his engineer Miles Walker.

A few artists also stopped through this month. Nico Solis engineering a session for Young Jeezy, while Gucci Mane was working on “The Recipe” &“She Got That Hot Stuff” engineered by Kori Anders. Kari Bell (Ciara’s New Artist) worked on “Scared” and “Matching Hearts” (Engineered by Mike Salvatoriello).

Other sessions in 995 included Young Berg, Joe Billz, London, Sweet Rush, Gohn Geezy, Static Major, Cannibus Club, HB, Young Haze ft. Gilly, Aleeyess, Trap Squad, Gorilla, and Young Hoss.

In Studio 9000

PatchWerk welcomed Whitney Houston this past June! She was working on a song entitled “Like I Never Left” produced by Akon and engineered by Mark “Exit” Goodehill. As if that wasn’t enough, PatchWerk also welcomed Mannie Fresh, UGK, Q. Parker (from 112), SUAI, Playaz Circle, Vawn, and Blood Raw.

Leslie Brathwaite worked on “Imma Get Mine” for Mannie Fresh ft. Lil Wayne and The Show, while he mixed “Up and Down” (produced by Jazze Pha) for Def Jam’s Vawn . Brathwaite also mixed a majority of the other sessions in 9000, including “Hard as Hell” for UGK, “Crazy Crazy”, “Fly”, and “Lonliness” for Q Parker and “Look What I Got” for Playaz Circle.

Guest Engineer Mark “Exit” Goodechild was at it again, this time tracking sessions for Konvict Musik’s SUAI, while Miles Walker handled tracking sessions with Sean Garrett.

Finally, the Blood Raw Listening Party! Mr. Louie Bag himself came through to host the event on our 9000 side this June. Music industry veterans and guests came through to get a sneak preview of Blood Raw’s new album: My Life: The True Testimony. Special guest included Kinky B, Young Jeezy, Greg Street, and Snake (of CZAR Ent).

Other Sessions on 9000 included Gucci Mane, Young Tre, Kardinal Offishial, Boogie Bandero, Hustle Boy, and Jessica

In Studio 995
Engineers Mike Wilson and Kori Anders were in 995 mixing and tracking sessions for artists such as Dex, Vinson, Gucci Mane, El Dorado Red, Vawn, SouthWest Click, Certified Coaches and David Banner.

Kori Anders tracked sessions for Gucci Mane including “Never too Much”, “Like That”, and “Brain’. He also tracked “Champagne Conversation’, “Shots”, and “Faucet” for Young Joc, plus “Up & Down” for Vawn and “So Long”, “Crazy”, and “Do it” for David Banner. Anders also did mixes for GB & Slick, and Dex.

Mike Wilson mixed a session for Southwest Click’s Fat Profit while he tracked vocals for Angel Productions’ “In the Club”, “Publish”, and “Your Man Is Supposed To”. Wilson also did a mix for J. Rizzle featuring Shawty Lo for the remix of “Hello”.

Also in studio 995 were Mike Pratt tracking an AUC Chant and Mike Miller tracking “Spot Light” by G5 featuring Bobby Valentino.

In Studio 9000

Leslie Braithwaite held it down at PatchWerk’s studio 9000 once again this past May. Recognized at PatchWerk for his top notch mixes, Brathwaite, assisted by Justin Trawick, mixed sessions for artists such as Ashanti, Nelly, Murphy Lee, Young Jeezy, C-Side, Red Dirt, Plies, Sir Will and Janelle Monae . Some of the songs that came out of the studio this past month included “The Way I Roll” by Murphy Lee (produced by LT MOE) “Put On” by Young Jeezy (produced by Drumma Boy), and “Locked Inside” by Janelle Monae.

Also in 9000 were sessions with Turner Broadcasting Station for Tyler Perry’s House of Payne featuring Chrisette Michelle, assisted by Mike Pratt. “Here I Am” by Rick Ross was engineered by Justin Trawick and a listening session with Disturbing tha Peace, and Monster Music was also held in 9000 this May.

Staff Engineer Mike Wilson attracted the majority of clients at PatchWerk this April, mixing and tracking sessions for Young Haze, Block Work, J. Harden, Stic Man, Rocko and Sweet Rush. Assisted by up and coming engineer Dee Brown for most of his mix sessions, Wilson also engineered works for Block Work’s “Cool New World”, J Harden’s “Work Dat Pole”, and Young Haze’s “Buy That”. Wilson tracked and recorded vocals including “Watch Me” for Kidd, “We’re not alone” for Stic Man of Dead Prez and “Big Thangs” for Rocko . Wilson also tracked a session for Universal artists Sweet Rush.

Kori Anders and Denny Ogle tracked or mixed several sessions that came through PatchWerk as well in April. Anders Tracked sessions for Gucci Mane’s “Never Too Much”, Young Joc’s “Champagne Conversation”, and GB&Slick ‘s “Bands”, while Denny Ogle tracked sessions for Trinity 57, Tru Players and LA.

Also in studio 995, were Shawty Redd with Producer Seth Firkins and engineer Adrian Dickey, tracking “Da Fame” and “Who’s the Badest”. Drumma Boy of Drum Squad was in the studio tracking various songs, produced by Aron and engineered by Mike “Snotty” Miller, while last but not least was West End Poet tracking “Cock A Doo” engineered by Dee Brown.

In Studio 9000

PatchWerk welcomed producer, songwriter, R&B singer Sean Garrett, who’s credits include high profile clients such as Whitney Houston, Kelly Rowland, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, just to name a very few. He was in 9000 working with producers Avila Brothers on various songs engineered by Miles Walker, assisted by Denny Ogle.

Most of the sessions in 9000 this April however were mix sessions by Leslie Braithwaite and Assistant Engineer Justin Trawick. With the exception of a couple, Brathwaite and Trawick held it down for most sessions in 9000. Together they mixed well over a dozen sessions for clients including 2 Pistols, Gucci Mane, G5, Rock City, Lil Wayne, and Plies.

John Legend & More @ PatchWerk Studios

In Studio 995

Stephanie Edwards (former American Idol finalist) along with Nikki G of Brownstone, held it down in PatchWerk for a good solid week. Along with owner Bob Whitfield, and taking engineering cues from Mike Miller, they tracked and recorded vocals on songs such as “Moving On”, “If I Let You Go”, “Bass Drop”, and “All Night”.

Young Joc was in the studio tracking “Make a Move”, “Hell Naw”, and “Gigolo” all produced by studio regular Drumma Boy and engineered by Kori Anders. Anders also engineered sessions for Angelique with Lil Mo, and Lil Scooter. Scooter came through with rapper Cassidy working on songs, “Front, Back” and “Na Na Na Na Na” produced by Swizz Beats.

Universal/Motown Recording Artist London had a tracking session for “Better Like” engineered by Ron Hilton and Assisted by Adrian Dickey.

Also in the studio were the Shop Boys, Asher, Strong E, Majik Massey, Shawty Redd and Stack-A-Dolla.

In Studio 9000

Singer/Songwriter John Legend was in PatchWerk Studios this February and March, recording and tracking vocals for his next project, including songs “Floating Away” and “No Other Love”, engineered by PatchWerk’s Grammy nominated Mike Wilson. “Green Light”, which is also featured on his upcoming album was mixed at the studio and will have a collabo with Andre 3000 of Outkast.

In addition to John Legend’s there were several mix sessions for R&B artists and hip hop artists. Three of which, Tami Chyn, Suni, and Kardinal Offishial are affiliated with Akon’s Universal label Konvict Music. Leslie Braithwaite, assisted by Justin Trawick, engineered all the mix sessions for Tami Chyn, including songs “Frozen”, “Who Am I Fooling”, and “Killer Love Song”. Braithwaite and Trawick also mixed “When a Woman Loves a Man” for Suni, and “Dangerous” for Kardinal Offishial both produced by Akon himself.

Rick Ross, who had his Trilla Listening party held at the studio earlier in the month, also had work done in the studio. Ross, along with One Chance, had sessions done for songs produced by studio regular Drumma Boy.

Sessions also in studio 9000 this month were sessions for R&B singer Lloyd, Rapper Rocko, Producer/Rapper Mannie Fresh and DJ Montay.
