In order for your music to be respected you have to be a fan favorite. Well of course not just potential fans but everyone including big names. Everybody has creativity, but sometimes can one find their creativity drained with a limited amount of music source? For example..... do you honestly think that heads like Timbaland, Dr.Dre, and others run out of ideas with making beats.....well they are human aren't they? Which is why they also are like you and have to search for new music just like you.
So who are the fans of most major producers? The answer to that would be unsigned up and coming producers. Just think about it! You as an indie have to appeal to the majors. However, this does not necessarily mean that they will sign you, but if you stick around long enough you may get to work under that individual.
You got people like Danja who worked under Timbaland's wing who was possibly an inspiration to Timbaland new revamped sound of the decade. You have some major producers who need to know what independents producers are doing to perfect their sound. This is due to the fact that independent producers have a lot of time on their hands, while majors have to deal with the corporate aspect of the music biz. For example Aftermath' Mr. Porter has been inspired by an up coming producer artist who I will not name, but it just goes to show that yes, they are listening.
