Grind With Purpose

A friend of mine recently posted a public service announcement on the almighty Twitter that read "...rejection is difficult for anyone, but without disappointment you don't grow..." As a member of the ever-growing entertainment industry, I have often heard and over heard the phrase, “I'm on my grind…” which prompted me to examine what that really means. The dictionary definitions are: 1. to wear, smooth, or sharpen by abrasion or friction 2. to reduce to fine particles, as by pounding or crushing 3. to produce by crushing or abrasion Normally, it isn’t until we’ve face some type of adversity and rejection that we are back on the grind. If someone says no that doesn't mean they're “tryna play you,” maybe you're grind isn't right for the opportunity. You may have another opportunity depending on how you choose to respond to the initial feedback. But, it's about stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing things to really make the situation crack, not remaining ignorant, but creating a plan. Without direction, there can be no lesson learned from the trials and tribulations. The thing is that people want what they want and if you get it right away, you'll never grow and you'll never know. Some of the best inventions have come in the face of adversity; you don't know you can do it until you're forced to. The real geniuses force themselves to do things without being forced to. When the grind is your reality then it’s about expanding it and taking it global. -Worldfamous G-Mack
